SIA Airbus 380 will start to fly Frankfurt and New York in Jan 2012


Singapore Airlines, the first airline to fly the the world's largest aircraft, the Airbus A380, will start to fly this super jumbo on the Singapore - Frankfurt - New York route from Jan 15, 2012. Frankfurt and New York will be Singapore Airlines' ninth and tenth destinations to receive the Airbus 380.[1] New York is the second USA destination served by SIA A 380 after Los Angeles, served by A 380s flying on Singapore - Narita - Los Angeles route.

Airbus 380 can take 555 passengers but Singapore Airlines has fitted them with 471 seats. Return fares on this super jumbo between Sydney and Singapore with SIA can cost $10,000 SGD for a suite, 7,500 SGD for first class, 5,000 - 6,000 SGD for business class and around 1,300 SGD for economy class. The planes have double and single suites, luxury, flying and private hotel rooms. There are 12 suites on a SIA A380, 4 in the middle and 8 on the left and right hand side. Middle ones can be merged to become a double suit with double bed. In the business class, there is a refreshment bar and seats of the business class are widest among all planes with 34 inch. There are 399 economy class seats in SIA A 380, 311 on the main deck with 3 - 4 - 3 configuration and 88 on the upper deck with 2-4-2 arrangement. Each economy seat comes with 10.6 inch screen, power point and usb port.[2]
