Sony Xperia Z Ultra in Singapore


Sony has announced its new android smartphone Xperia Z Ultra which will be a 6.4-inch 1080p screen phablet equipped with a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 chip. Xperia Z Ultra will be released in China, Indonesia and Singapore in July and August 2013. The new device's release date in Europe will be in September 2013.

"Southeast Asia is the key market for the product because the trend towards large-screened smartphone devices is stronger there," said Calum MacDougall, director of Xperia marketing. "In the large-screen segment at the moment most consumers are looking at the Galaxy Note. Now we can offer something that is really distinct: a stronger screen, greater portability, waterproofing and something different around the stylus and the pen."

According to a press release Xperia Z Ultra price will 719 Euros (936 USD).

The device is in a segment, superphone or phablet, which is gaining popularity in the last few years. Currently Samsung dominates this large-screen smartphone market with Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Mega series of devices.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra's 6.4-inch 1080p is the best in terms of resolution among its pears. The HD (1,920 x 1,080) screen is the the first smartphone display to debut Sony's Triluminos technology which promises a wider, richer color gamut.

The device is powered by Qualcomm's latest and greatest mobile processor,  2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800, and comes with 2GB of RAM and 4G LTE connectivity too. There is 16 GB built-in storage and 64 GB can be added with a microSD slot.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra also has handwriting recognition and works with any graphite pencil, capacitive stylus or metal pen with tip diameter of over 1mm.
